Using ping
This command is used to send the packets to other computer and then it waits for return packet from there. Pinging other computer from this system, using the IP address will show the output as follows:
A line of output is shown each time a packet is sent and received. And this shows that connectivity to the other computer is all right. We can stop this ping sequence by pressing Ctrl+C. we also can ping the other computer by its name. But for this to happen, its name and its address should be there in /etc/hosts file:
